War remnants | Explosion of landmine kills child and injures another in Al-Hasakah countryside

Al-Hasakah province: A child was killed and another was injured as a result of the explosion of an old landmine, while they were herding sheep in Bab Al-Faraj village near Jabal Kawkab within SDF-held areas in Al-Hasakah countryside.

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 78 civilians, including 19 women and 25 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2024. In addition, 69 civilians, including four women and 39 children, sustained various injuries.

The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:

Regime-controlled areas: 64 fatalities, including 19 women and 12 children, and 49 injured civilians, including four women and 21 children. Among this toll, 44 truffle pickers, including 18 women and a child, were killed and 17 others including three women were injured.

SDF-held areas: 14 fatalities, including 13 children, and 15 injured children.

HTS-held areas: Four injured children.

Areas where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed: A young man was injured.
