Proliferation of arms | Infighting erupt between two families in eastern Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: Clashes erupted between young men from “Al-Thawamera” family and others from “Al-Jarawan” family in Al-Shuhayl town in eastern Deir Ezzor following disagreements between the two families. No casualties have been reported, while tension is growing in the region, amid escalating security chaos an appeals to the region’s dignitaries to interfere and settle the conflict.

 

This coincides with the escalating security chaos and proliferation of arms in SDF-controlled areas.

 

Accordingly, the number of infightings which followed disputes over retaliation and family and tribal disagreements in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration has reached 34 since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these infightings left 17 people, including a woman and a child, dead and 89 others injured; they are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 24 infightings left four persons, including a child, dead and 49 others injured.

 

  • Al-Raqqah: Three infightings left eight people dead and 20 others injured.

 

  • Aleppo: Three infightings left a civilian dead and 14 others, including an Asayish member, injured.

 

  • Al-Hasakah: Four infightings left four persons, including a woman, dead and six others injured.
