ISIS resurgence | “Al-Asayish” kills seven ISIS members and arrests others, after repelling attack on al-Tabqa prison

SOHR sources say that seven ISIS members were killed and others arrested today, following clashes with “Al-Asayish” forces in the city of Al-Tabqa. The groups clashed at the Al-Ajzawi roundabout in the city of Al-Tabqa.

 Meanwhile, “Al-Asayish”, backed by SDF members, repelled ISIS attack at the al-Alam roundabout and the prison containing prisoners of the group. While the city is witnessing a security alert and due to the chasing of an ISIS cell after its members managed to flee. SOHR sources say that a violent attack carried out by Islamic State cells this evening, targeting a security checkpoint of “Al-Asaish” forces at al-Alam roundabout in the city of Al-Tabqa in rural Al-Raqqa. Meanwhile, all the roads in the city were cut off and all forces affiliated with SDF were put on high alert in the area.

Observatory sources added that prisoners of the Islamic State are “carrying out a riot inside al-Tabqa prison near the site of the clashes.”
