Protesting the arrest of civilian from the city by regime forces | Residents of rural Al-Sweida cut off road connecting with the capital Damascus

Al-Suwayda governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that dozens of residents of Shahba town in Al-Sweida countryside cut off Damascus-Sweida road near Um al-Zaytoun checkpoint, after arresting one of the city’s residents, in the Syrian capital Damascus, without knowing the reasons. The residents demanded the immediate release of the arrested young man.

On December 23, SOHR sources said that the province of Al-Suwaidaa turned to a safe house for gangs, as escalating security chaos continues, including kidnappings.

In this context, a regime colonel serving in Khalkhalah military airbase was released, after being kidnapped a week ago, and after mediation by Al-Suwaidaa factions and the military security branch. However, the value of the ransom paid for releasing the top officer remained unknown.

On the other hand, a merchant from Aleppo was release a few days ago in Al-Fursan square, also after mediation by the military security branch in Al-Suwaidaa.
