The Syria Democratic Forces and US Special Forces are 5 km away from the Euphrates Dam, kill 25 members of the “Islamic State” at least

Al-Raqqah Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
The villages near to the northern banks of the Euphrates River in the northwestern countryside of al-Tabaqa west of Al-Raqqah, are witnessing continuous clashes between the Syria Democratic Forces against the “Islamic State”, where the Syria Democratic Forces managed to achieving new advancement in the past hours and control the Eastern Ja’bar village, the violent clashes and the attack by Syria Democratic Forces were accompanied by bombing by the warplanes of the international coalition, and with this advancement the Syria Democratic Forces supported by US Special Forces and Coalition’s warplanes have achieved a new advancement towards the Euphrates Dam and the adjacent city of al-Tabaqa, which puts them about 5 km away from the Euphrates Dam located on the Euphrates at al-Tabaqa city, and until now the Syrian Observatory for human rights was able to document the killing of at least 25 members of the “Islamic state”, and injury of several others, while SOHR received confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of the attacking forces.

The Syria Democratic Forces seek to reach the goal of their operation the “Euphrates Wrath” which launched on the 6th of November 2016, where they try in the second phase of the operation that they announced two weeks ago to control al-Tabaqa city which has a strategic importance, where it is considered as the security-center-of-gravity for the organization, where leading figures of the organization reside in the Euphrates dam, also it has the biggest prison for the organization in al-Tabaqa area, which contains important prisoners and captives.
