Supported by Russian airpower, regime forces attack north of Aleppo, and nearly 50 regime soldiers, rebels and jihadists killed

Violent clashes continue on Al Sheikh Aqeel frontline in northern sector of rural Aleppo, between opposition factions and jihadist groups on the one hand, and regime forces and loyalists on the other, in continuous attempts by regime forces, and with an intensive firepower, to control the strategic area.

In the past few hours, regime forces were able to advance and control large parts of Al Sheikh Aqeel before the factions regain control of it. Once regime forces capture Al Sheikh Aqeel, several areas north of Aleppo will be in their fire range.

Meanwhile, Russian jets continued intensive bombardment on western and northern rural Aleppo, targeting Hraytan, Anadan, Kafr Hamra, Al Sheikh Aqeel frontline, Taqed, Ainjara, Salloum, Al-Sahara, Taqad and near Al Atarib.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented further fatalities as a result of intensive air and ground bombardment and violent battles. The death toll of regime forces rose to 21 on Saturday, while the death toll of opposition fighters rose to 28, 20 of whom are jihadists.

Since the evening of 24th of last month, air and ground bombardment and violent clashes left heavy death toll among warring sides. The death toll of regime forces and allied militias rose to 542, including ten pro-Iranian foreign militias, while the death toll of opposition fighters rose to 605, 450 of whom are jihadists.
