Armed attack | Two militiamen of IRGC killed in Syrian desert

SOHR sources have reported that unknown gunmen, but believed to be of ISIS cells, opened fire on a military bus carrying militiamen of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near Arak village to the east of Palmyra city. The attack left two militiamen dead and others injured, while the casualties were taken to Palmyra national hospital.

 

According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2022 has increased to 313; and they are as follows:

• 140 ISIS members were killed in Russian airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the deserts of Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama, Al-Raqqah, Deir Ezzor and Aleppo.

• 173 members of regime forces and their proxy militias, including 11 Iranian-backed Syrian and non-Syrian militiamen, were killed in 65 operations by ISIS members, including ambushes, armed attacks and explosions, in west Euphrates region and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.

• A civilian was killed in an attack by ISIS in the Syrian desert.
