Instability in SDF-held areas | ISIS Commander and member executed in eastern Al-Suwar desert in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that residents found the body of an Iraqi ISIS commander and another ISIS member, after having been executed in mysterious circumstances by ISIS cells in eastern Al-Suwar desert in northern Deir Ezzor countryside. A paper note was found beside the two bodies which read “everyone who deals with them (they mean individuals close to ISIS) will face the same fate.”

 

According to the sources, the dead men were killed due to internal  disagreements, while an SDF patrol headed to the site of the attack and moved the two bodies to headquarters in northern Deir Ezzor.

 

SOHR has documented 84 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2023. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 57 persons dead:

 

  • Ten civilians.

 

  • 42 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

 

  • One unidentified man.

 

  • Four ISIS member.

 

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Al-Raqqah: 11 attacks left ten combatants and a civilian dead.

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 61 attacks left nine civilians, an unidentified man and 23 combatants , two ISIS cells dead including an Iraqi commander.

 

  • Aleppo: Three attacks left seven combatants, including commanders, dead.

 

  • Al-Hasakah: Nine attacks left two combatants and two ISIS members dead and others injured.
