ISIS resurgence | Cells carry out eight operations in SDF-held areas in six days, killing and injuring 15 combatants and civilians

Areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration have experienced escalating operations by ISIS cells against civilians and combatants, where these operations included armed attacks and assassinations through gunfire and planting IEDs and landmines.

 

According to SOHR statistics, ISIS cells carried out eight operations in the past six days, precisely from October 14 to October 19. Accordingly, the number of ISIS cells’ attacks in six days is higher than the operations they carried out in September.

 

It is worth noting that all ISIS operations in the past six days were carried out in Deir Ezzor province, and they left seven members of SDF and military formations operating in the region dead and six others injured. In addition, two civilians were killed in ISIS attacks in the same period.

 

SOHR has documented 136 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2023. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 93 persons dead:

 

  • 21 civilians.

 

  • 67 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

 

  • One unidentified man.

 

  • Four ISIS member.

 

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Al-Raqqah: 16 attacks left 15 combatants and two civilians dead.

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 105 attacks left 19 civilians, an unidentified man, 41 combatants and two ISIS members, including an Iraqi commander, dead.

 

  • Aleppo: Three attacks left seven combatants, including commanders, dead.

 

  • Al-Hasakah: 12 attacks left four combatants and two ISIS members dead and others injured.
