Ongoing violations | Turkish intelligence and military police arrest two civilians in Afrin city and countryside

Aleppo province: Members of military police arrested a young man in his thirties in Jendires district in Afrin countryside for unknown reasons, where his whereabouts and fate remain unknown.

Meanwhile, members of a joint military patrol of military police and Turkish intelligence arrested a civilian, after having returned back to his hometown in Afrin from northern Aleppo countryside where he had been displaced.

The man was arrested while heading to the city center to obtain an identity card from the local council in the city, while his whereabouts and fate remain unknown.

This comes in light of ongoing arrest campaigns by Turkish forces and their proxies against civilians in “Olive Branch” area in order to obtain ransoms, while the fate of detainees who had been arrested remains unknown.

On May 5, SOHR sources reported that Turkish intelligence and pro-Turkey factions arrested five civilians including forcibly deported from Turkey.
